Oyez, oyez !
Guirec a de nouveau croisé le chemin d’un navire, un vraquier cette fois-ci. ! Il a pu nous reporter sa position que vous trouverez mise à jour sur le site ICI
Il a très bien avancé, le continent semble se rapprocher à grands coups de rame !
Cela fait plus de 2 mois que Guirec est parti de Cap Cod USA, il a parcouru plus de 2200 milles nautiques soit plus de 4000kms… Il lui en reste encore un bon millier (de kms) !
NB : Je parle en ligne droite, en réel il aura parcouru bien plus !
En tout cas, Guirec l’a annoncé lors de son échange avec le capitaine du M/V Yasa Neslihan :
"I AM SAFE AND GOING TO FRANCE . MY PLAN TO ARRIVE FRANCE AT 1ST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER »
Traduction : « Je vais bien je me dirige vers la France, je planifie une arrivée première semaine de Septembre ! »
Une phrase riche d’optimisme et de détermination comme on les aime !
Cela correspond aux derniers calculs de l’équipe, soulagée que Guirec ait tangenté Nord à temps avant le Golfe de Gascogne.
Pour l’instant il est difficile d’établir une date précise, car cela dépendra beaucoup de sa trajectoire et de la météo qu’il va rencontrer à l’approche du plateau continental, il est encore trop tôt pour vous l’annoncer fermement !
Pour optimiser au mieux son ‘atterrissage' il ne doit pas arriver en ligne directe sur la pointe bretonne car les courants risqueraient de l’y accueillir amèrement.
Il va devoir faire le tour par le Nord Ouest, en mettant le cap le plus longtemps possible sur les îles Scilly au large des Cornouailles anglaises, avant de redescendre sur le Finistère.
La ligne d’arrivée est virtuelle. Elle est dessinée par l’alignement du cap Lizard (UK) et de l’île d’Ouessant. C’est une tradition maritime respectée de nombreuses courses au large, tours du monde à la voile et aussi transatlantiques à la rame ;)
Cette ligne représente également la séparation géographique entre l’océan Atlantique et la Manche, et nous avons hâte d’y voir pointer le bout de l’étrave de Romane !
Dans quel état d’esprit Guirec peut-il se trouver dans son petit confetti rose ?
Je suis sûre qu’il se confie chaque jour à son bateau, qu’il lui parle et l’encourage à avaler avec lui les nombreux milles qu’il reste à parcourir.
Il est une fois de plus seul face à lui-même, aux éléments, dans un effort physique et mental permanent et un confort inexistant.
L’arrivée sur la terre ferme s’annonce très très riche en émotion et certainement difficile après toutes ces épreuves. Mais il est facile de deviner le sourire jusqu’aux oreilles que Guirec aura en voyant les côtes familières se dessiner à l’horizon !

For the moment it is difficult to establish a precise date of arrival, because it will depend a lot on his trajectory and the weather he will encounter as he approaches the continental shelf, it is still too early to tell you firmly what day to come meet him ashore !
To optimize his "landing" as well as possible, he must not arrive in a direct line on the Breton point because the currents could welcome him bitterly.
He will have to go around the North West, heading as long as possible for the Isles of Scilly off the coast of English Cornwall, before heading back down to Finistère.
The finish line is virtual. It is historically drawn by the alignment of Cape Lizard (UK) and the island of Ouessant. It is a respected maritime tradition with many offshore races, sailing around the world and also transatlantic rowing expeditions ;)
This line also represents the geographic separation between the Atlantic Ocean and the English Channel, and we can't wait to see Romane's bow point there!
What state of mind can Guirec find in his little pink confetti?
I'm sure he confides in his boat every day, talks to her and encourages her to swallow the many miles that remain to be covered together.
He is once again alone in front of himself, in the elements, in a permanent physical and mental effort and a non-existent comfort.
The arrival on dry land promises to be very, very emotional and certainly difficult after all these hardships.
But it is easy to guess the smile that Guirec will have ear to ear when he sees the familiar coasts looming on the horizon!
